The highly experienced physicians at Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine are dedicated to helping patients fully recover from the most complex of injuries or conditions, with no limitations. This state-of-the-art orthopedic practice is located right in the heart of Forest Hills, New York.


Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine works with sports teams and leagues throughout the New York City area, including the Westside Tennis Club. But sports medicine isn’t just for professional athletes since anyone can suffer an injury.


The highly skilled orthopedic team also regularly cares for patients who have chronic conditions, such as arthritis, as well as workplace or automobile injuries. Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine even provides comprehensive work injury care to JFK and Laguardia airport staff.

Mehran Manouel, MD, FAAOS

As a board-certified orthopedist with over two decades in practice, Mehran Manouel, MD, FAAOS, is a trusted practitioner. He cares for patients at Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine in Forest Hills, New York, and is currently accepting new patients.


Dr. Manouel earned his Doctor of Medicine at the prestigious Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He went on to complete a comprehensive general surgery internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.


To further his expertise, Dr. Manouel went through a competitive sports medicine fellowship through the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Manouel is currently board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.


Throughout his career, Dr. Manouel has cared for professional athletes, including players from the former Houston Oilers football team, as well as the Houston Rockets basketball team and the Houston Astros baseball team. Dr. Manouel is also a former assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, where he led orthopedic surgery interns and residents throughout their hospital training.


Beyond helping patients with minor to complex orthopedic conditions, Dr. Manouel specializes in arthroscopic surgery, with an emphasis on rotator cuff repair and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair. Dr. Manouel is even known for helping athletes and physically active patients return to their sport and perform at their highest levels.


Fluent in English, Hebrew, and Farsi, Dr. Manouel can communicate with patients of diverse cultural backgrounds who may struggle with language barriers. Patients of Dr. Manouel appreciate his caring bedside manner and dedication to helping them find effective treatment solutions.

Marisa Formica, MD

Chahait Singh, MD

Dr Chahait Singh performs evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal pain disorders, with a special emphasis on those arising in the spine with multimodal pain management.


Dr. Singh also performs interventional pain procedures, including ultrasound-guided injections, epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, radiofrequency ablations.


She is a New Yorker at heart and loves to travel!

Additionally, the team at Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine welcomes teachers and first responders from local police and fire departments, as well as ambulance workers and emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Previously, the practice sponsored the local police soccer team.


Using the latest research and up-to-date surgical techniques and examination tools — including in-office imaging — the team can provide innovative treatments for patients of all ages. They focus on pain management and non-pharmaceutical treatment solutions to help patients heal and recover from serious discomfort.


Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine specializes in regenerative treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. These treatments are highly beneficial for managing knee issues, including meniscus or anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, as well as rotator cuff tears of the shoulder joint. No other surgeon in the area is using these types of regenerative treatments for chronic pain.


The team of board-certified orthopedists at Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine offers flexible scheduling throughout the week for patients. The practice is the only medical office in the area with a parking lot on-site for its patients’ convenience.
