Dr. Manouel earned his Doctor of Medicine at the prestigious Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He went on to complete a comprehensive general surgery internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
To further his expertise, Dr. Manouel went through a competitive sports medicine fellowship through the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Manouel is currently board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Throughout his career, Dr. Manouel has cared for professional athletes, including players from the former Houston Oilers football team, as well as the Houston Rockets basketball team and the Houston Astros baseball team. Dr. Manouel is also a former assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, where he led orthopedic surgery interns and residents throughout their hospital training.

Marisa Formica, MD
A dedicated and diligent sports medicine specialist, Marisa Formica, MD, provides innovative orthopedic treatments for patients of all ages. Dr. Formica welcomes new and existing patients to Able Orthopedic & Sports Medicine, located in Forest Hills, New York.
After earning her Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Miramar, Florida, Dr. Formica, relocated to New York. She completed her family medicine residency at Glen Cove Hospital – Northwell Health on Long Island, where she served as chief resident. She went on to complete a specialized fellowship in sports medicine through the Louisiana State University (LSU) Baton Rouge General Medical Center.
To ensure she’s up-to-date with the latest advancements in orthopedic medicine, Dr. Formica maintains a professional membership with the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Formica is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in both family medicine and sports medicine.
Dr. Formica has a long history of treating patients from the high school level all the way up to major league baseball players. Throughout her career, Dr. Formica has even had the opportunity to care for athletes from the LSU Tigers Division 1 sports program, as well as players from Southern University Jaguars in Division 1AA.

Thirsa Scanlon is a graduate of the Swedish Institute and has been a massage therapist since 2004. Thirsa is trained in Swedish/ Deep tissue massage, Orthopedic assessment, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitated stretching, Medical massage, Pre/post natal massage, Myofascial body work, Craniosacral therapy, Lymphatic drainage, Polarity, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Shiatsu and Qi Gong.
